God Chant
By Kestrellyn (aka "Kestrelyn".)
(e-mail: kestrel@e-tex.com)
(Counterpoint to "Goddess Chant", (adapted from the music of
"From The Goddess"
by "On Wings Of Song"
and Robert Gass.)
First, the originals and inspiration:
"We all come from the Goddess,
And to Her we shall return,
Like a drop of rain,
Flowing to the ocean."
(Based on the chant,
"We All Come From God"
by Richard Quinn.)
"Isis, Astarte', Diana,
Hecate', Demeter, Kali, Inanna!"
by Deena Metzger/Caitlin Mullin
"Goddess is alive, Magic is afoot!"
(adapted from the song
"God Is Alive"
by Buffy St. Marie.)
And *my* original lyrics, dedicated to the Beloved Consort,
this Samhain, 1996.
"Horned God, Loved by the Goddess,
Father, Brother, Lover, Son,
Touched and Touching, Forever,
Spiral Dancing On and On..."
"Shiva, Osiris, Apollo,
Lucifer, Coyote, Chango', Cernnunos!"
"Spirits are A-Wing, Magick is Afoot!"
(Ever since I first heard these assorted Chants, I have felt that
the other half of the Moon Goddess, the Horned God, also needed to
be represented, in order to keep and properly celebrate the Balance
of female/male energy. It disturbed me somewhat that this
particular Goddess Chant, one that seems to be very widely used by
the Craft-at-large, did not contain the names of any Native
American Spirits/Manitous or Santeria Orishas/Loas ,so I have
amended this in my version of the God Chant. It won't be for
everyone, but then again, what is? Myriad variations are
possible.)
