Orientation Day Trip - Great Ocean Road, here we come!

The Great Ocean Road perhaps offers the most enchanting coastal drive one can ever experience ... so, what better way to welcome you to our Chong Hua family than to take you on the drive of your life?! It will be a full day trip on the 15th of March (and when I say "full" I mean FULL), from 7.30 in the morning till around 9 at night. It is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience.

We will depart from Monash University and travel across the spectacular Westgate Bridge to Geelong, Victoria's largest provincial city and then stop for refreshment at Torquay, the start of the Great Ocean Road. Afterwards we will continue our exploration of this ocean-mountain road, carved into the Cliffside offering some of the most spectacular coastal views in Australia. We will be traveling through the popular seaside resorts of Anglesea and Lorne - enjoy the scenery as we pass wide surf beaches, dramatic stretches of precipitous cliffs and idyllic coves where fern-shaded creeks join the ocean. We then reach the peaceful township of Apollo Bay where we stop over for an "all-you-can-eat-make-it-yourself" sandwich lunch.

After restoring our energy with a filling lunch, we set off to travel across the Otway Ranges to arrive at Port Campbell National Park. This national park boasts an area of immense beauty featuring some of the most rugged and dangerous coastline in Victoria. Of course, the remarkable twelve apostles have to be seen to be believed. It really demonstrates the power of ocean at work, moulding enormous sandstones into rows of great pillars.

We will also visit the remains of London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge - the scene of the dramatic ship-wreck of Lorch Ard with only 2 survivors over 100 years ago. The serenity and beauty of the crystal blue waters make this area truly a photographer's paradise. Don't forget to bring plenty of film (2 whole rolls of 36 exposure films may just be enough!)

Well, that brings us to the end of the tour. We head back to Melbourne and perhaps stop for dinner on the way.

If this day trip sounds irresistible to you now, then just you wait till the real thing! You will not only be able to enjoy the scenery, but also make new friends. It will be the perfect opportunity for first year students to meet one another and therefore make life easier in the new semester ... at least the people around you won't be all strangers anymore! Unfortunately, spaces are limited for this trip so register your name now! (P.S. students from all year levels are welcome to join our trip, but first year students will be given priority)

See you on the Great Ocean Road!
